Blogger's Block

Each morning before I begin tackling the tasks of the day, I make an effort to post something on our blog. This isn't because our life is above average on the interesting scale or because I feel the need to share everything with the world. It's because at some point each day, a tall handsome man in Minnesota will sit down in front of his laptop and check our blog. I know for a fact reading about the latest growth of a sunflower and the new annoyances of owning parakeets isn't the most blog-worthy of events, yet somehow, it's those tidbits of life that keep people connected. Perhaps it's because we grasp onto anything we can when we live far apart. We long to share the mundane realities of life as we once did. For me, it's a small way to love someone. I post, he checks. It's a daughter-father love letter of sorts posted for others to smile about. Let's face it, unless we're sky-diving or vacationing in the Riviera, sunflowers and DC drama is about as interesting as we get on a daily basis. Yet, it's those simple things in life that are sometimes most worth sharing about--if not just to post something for Dad to find in the morning. Good morning, Dad. We love you.
